If you are planning a visit abroad please inform the IT Purchasing team in well in advance.
Please submit a request and provide this information:
- Mobile phone number
- Destination
- Date of Departure
- Duration of visit
We will do the following:
- Allow International calls on your number
- Enable data roaming (if applicable to your tariff)
- Ensure a data cap is in place (While abroad your data spend limit will be capped at approximately 50 Euro. Once you reach this limit you won’t be able to use data abroad for the rest of the monthly billing period)
- Ask Vodafone to apply a data roaming bundle (see below for example of costs)

You should also be aware of:
Prior to travelling abroad, it is advisable to set up a voice mail security PIN on your handset in order to continue accessing voice messages. You can set up a PIN by dialing 121 and selecting options 4-2-2.
When you do not need to access the internet switch your device to 2G only and this will avoid excessive data charges, especially if you have opted out of the *50 Euro spend limit (data roaming cap). Also remember to take advantage of any WiFi hot spots.
*to opt out of the spend limit please provide your budget holders authorisation in writing before departure as this can result in excessive costs
Data bundles are more expensive for Dongles, iPads, Tablets and Laptops so we advise you to use your phone for data if this is possible.
